We are about holistic health care. We utilize applied kinesiology in order to treat the whole patient. Applied kinesiology is a graduate specialty in chiropractic and other branches of medicine. Applied kinesiology means "observing and treating the body in motion". The definition is: "A system which evaluates our structural, chemical, and mental aspects. It employs muscle testing with other standard methods of diagnosis. Nutrition, manipulation, diet, acupressure, exercise, and education are used therapeutically to help restore balance and maintain well being throughout life." Applied kinesiology was founded in 1964 by Dr. George J. Goodheart, and it has grown into a discipline that bridges the gaps between all health professions in order to work in harmony for the benefit of the patient. It is comprised of many examination and treatment techniques in order to identify neurologic dysfunction and restore health. The methods of applied kinesiology are diagnostic; however, they are not primarily for the purpose of naming a disease or illness, but to understand the process or fundamental cause. The human body had an incredible capability to heal itself and maintain health. However, sometimes it needs a little nudge in the right direction with the proper skills.
The clinic was founded in 1979 by Dr. John Bandy, one of the original teaching diplomates in the field of applied kinesiology. In 1988, Dr. David B.Dauphiné joined Dr. Bandy and spent one year studying under him before Dr. Bandy moved to Austin, TX, where he still practices today.
Dr. David B.Dauphiné began practicing chiropractic in 1987, after graduating from Life Chiropractic College in Atlanta, GA. He has been an amateur athlete for many years, which steered his interest in health to the applied kinesiology specialty. He obtained his BS degree from Penn State University in 1969, and an MS degree from Northeastern University in 1973. Dr.Dauphiné has been active in the International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK) and has served on the ICAK board of directors. He is ICAK diplomate eligible. He just retired from the profession in July of 2012.
Drs. Alex and Pamela Isaenko joined Calloway Clinic in July of 2010. Drs. Isaenko studied with Dr. Dauphiné and Dr. Richard Parnell of Easley, SC for two years. Dr. Alex Isaenko received his Medical Degree in Russia in 1998. He moved to Boone, NC in 1998 with his parents and brother. After working in Watauga Hospital as an operating room nurse, he decided to change his path to attend chiropractic school. He graduated from Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, SC, in 2008. He began practicing applied kinesiology in both Asheville, NC and Boone, NC. He and his wife, Pam Isaenko, joined Calloway Chiropractic Clinic in July 2010.
Dr. Pamela Isaenko graduated from Sherman College of Chiropractic in 2009. She received her BS degree in Biomedical Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark, NJ, in 2005. Her uncle is a practicing chiropractor in Sussex, NJ, which is how she was guided into the field of chiropractic.
We do not file insurance. We do provide patients with an itemized bill that can be submitted on their own to their insurance company. Many patients apply these fees towards their deductibles or use their flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
